• On Saturday, October 13, 2012, Jane Mitchell, award-winning author and Regional Advisor, presented a day-long workshop in Dublin on writing for children. This practical, hands-on workshop took place at the offices of Children’s Book Ireland with 8 enthusiastic participants and we all learned lots from Jane Mitchell’s excellent day!  
  • Our meet-ups in Cork are becoming very popular with locally based writers and illustrators! Here are a few of our members and members-to-be in the library after a recent meet-up.   
  • Still Falling is a young adult novel by Sheena Wilkinson published in February 2015 by Little Island.  
  • Invariably, someone coming to our meet-ups brings treats to sweeten the afternoon. Eleanor baked these wonderful cupcakes decorated with cats’ faces and paw prints for Fiona’s birthday. They were delicious. Well done, Eleanor!

Featured Member: Sheena Wilkinson

Sheena has been a member of SCBWI since 2010. I got to meet Sheena a few years ago at an SCBWI Ireland social event. Over the years, I have been lucky to read each of her books as they were published. They are brilliantly written, very realistic and entertaining, and really capture what life is like for the teen characters she portrays.
